The screen, the source, the setup

Your screen says 4K.
Check the whole picture.

Find the missing link between the event feed, your subscription and your TV. This free checker compares your answers with published Netflix and NOW requirements.

Build your setup checklist.

Choose “not sure” where you have not checked. Results are based on your answers, rather than a measurement of your device or connection.

Rules apply to the named service, not to every streaming subscription.

Live and on-demand 4K support can differ on the same device.

Choose your exact generation. Use “other” if yours is not listed.

Check the event listing or title details. HDR alone does not establish resolution.

Confirm the plan, event access and any required quality upgrade.

Check TV, app, HDMI input, cable and any receiver; include the provider’s exact requirements.

An access error needs an account and event check before playback troubleshooting.

Enter a real reading from your TV or streaming device. Leave blank if unknown. A phone test in another room can give a different result.

The checker does not send or store your answers. Copying a report is optional.

The checklist behind the tool

Six checks before you change your subscription.

  1. 01

    Confirm the actual feed

Check that your programme is offered in native 4K. An HD source remains an HD source even if the television outputs a 4K picture.

  2. 02

    Check plan and access

Verify your account includes the event and the required quality tier. Resolve purchase, location or sign-in messages before trying to cure buffering.

  3. 03

    Find the exact device

NOW lists UHD on Fire TV Stick 4K and 4K Max (1st and 2nd gen) as on-demand only. Apple TV 4K support differs between generations. Use its current device matrix.

  4. 04

    Follow the display chain

The app, television, HDMI input, cable and any receiver must support the requested format. Netflix specifies HDCP 2.2 or later for its 4K HDMI setup.

  5. 05

    Check sustained delivery

Netflix recommends at least 15 Mbps for UHD; NOW specifies 30 Mbps per device for Ultra Boost. These are service-specific requirements, not promises of uninterrupted playback.

  6. 06

Test one change at a time

Use your intended viewing screen. Compare another feed and another supported device, then change one setting. Record what improves before making the next change.

What the checker can tell you.

Does this checker measure my internet speed?

No. Enter a speed you measured on the device you actually watch on. The tool compares your answers with published requirements; it does not connect to your player, test a live feed or measure your network.

Can a 4K output setting upgrade an HD live feed?

No. Your screen may upscale the picture, but the original live feed must be available in native 4K. Check the exact programme, plan and supported app before changing device output settings.

Does a ready-to-test result guarantee uninterrupted 4K?

No. It means the answers you supplied did not reveal a known blocker in this checklist. Actual playback still depends on the feed, supported hardware and stable delivery. Test the intended programme on your own screen.

Rules, sources and scope.

Onyx publishes this tool and offers its own VIP plans. The checker uses the official requirements below, not an independent performance benchmark. A supported-device entry still requires a compatible plan, source and screen. Provider requirements can change.
